OUR PROGRAMS

Mainly, we provide food assistance to families in crisis in the Canyon Lake community with our Emergency Food Pantry. We also offer monthly food assistance to the disabled and elderly living on limited income. But, we also offer other programs to help families and individuals.

Programs:

Financial Crisis Assistance:

Crisis Financial Assistance: Medical problems, vehicle accidents, the loss of a job, and even trying to help others. All of these issues can create a financial hardship on families that live from one paycheck to the next. We provide assistance with rent, utilities, and some emergency prescriptions to help families through their time of crisis.

Obviously, that isn't a problem for us. The problem is that there is no private place for us to meet with clients who are in crisis. There is no secluded place to talk about confidential matters. We are including an interview room in our floor plan for our new building.

Medical Equipment Loans:

The last time we priced crutches, they were $80/pair! When you only need them for about six weeks, you really don't want to spend that much. CRRC loans out crutches, wheelchairs, walkers, bedside commodes, shower/tub chairs and canes. If you need any of these items, you can borrow them for a three month period.

As you can see, we need more space for storing our inventory. Sometimes we don't have much to store, because it's checked out. But, when it isn't, we need to have a place to keep it all - for when people come to borrow what they need.

We want to build in a storage section that will accommodate all of our various items and make them easy to get to.

Meals on Wheels:

Imagine being homebound. Imagine having no family in the community. Wouldn't it be nice to have someone come by to visit? Our volunteer drivers leave the CRRC Main Office twice a week to make meal deliveries. They spend some time visiting with these shut-ins. Sometimes, they even take them to doctor appointments.

That part isn't a problem. The issues that we face for our Meals on Wheels program is where to stack the containers. The coolers and insulated bags that we use for the meal delivery float around the office from one place to another, because they don't have a designated storage place. They're always in the way. We would like to give them their own (little) space.
