Our Directors

CRRC was formed by the community in 1983 and has grown into something larger, and better, than its original purpose. Meeting the community's needs for fun, fellowship, food and financial assistance are just the tip of the iceberg for this grassroots organization.

Darin Zumwalt

Darin has been on staff since 2006, when he was hired as manager of the CRRC Thrift Store. He doubled the store's revenue within the next three years. He became Executive Director in 2009, where he has helped CRRC obtain more than $1.2 million in grant monies while at the same time programs have been expanded in the Recreation area for youth, a new senior program, a renovation of the food pantry, and a remodeling of the Thrift Store.

He serves on the AACOG board, the county homeless committee, and was honored by the Canyon Lake Area Chamber of Commerce in 2012 with the Community Spirit Award.

Maureen Schein

Resource Program Director

A former journalist and PR contractor, Maureen tends the website, the monthly newsletter, oversees the food pantry, coordinates the Meals on Wheels drivers, runs five to nine miles a week, and enjoys dancing with her husband - when they're not visiting their grandchildren.

She also serves on the Compliance & Capability Committee for the San Antonio Food Bank, was secretary for the county's Communications Committee, served on the Mental Health Task Force for Comal County, is a member of the Canyon Lake Area Blue Star Mothers, and was honored as the Assistant Governor of the Year for the Rotary District. for 2014 and Lt. Governor of the Year for 2015.

After spending spending most of his career in retail management for Foley's/Macy's. Clifton found his way to the CRRC Thrift Store after moving to New Braunfels from Houston.Clifton has been on staff at CRRC for over a year now.And has served as the thrift store manager for most of that time.After taking over as store manager in 2013 Clifton has used his retail management and marketing skills to greatly surpass the store sales records for the past 5 years.

Clifton manages over 30 volunteers and 7 paid employees.He also manages the Thrift Stores community service program for local adults and youths.His energy and attention to detail keep our thrift store running profitably and smoothly.

For the last two years, Andi has been under the tutelage of long-time Recreation Director Kristi Broadway. You'll recognize her from that, but also from being a part of our community - which is where she and her husband of 15 years live and raise their family of three amazing kids. 

She took over the reigns on April 1, 2016, and has already started making her own mark.
